FAQ & Disclosures

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Notary Public's role?

A Notary Public is an official of integrity commissioned by the Secretary of State to help deter fraud.  Notary Publics act as an impartial witness to the signing of important documents and verify the identity of the signer(s), their willingness to sign the documents, and their awareness of the contents of the documents.

What is an Online Notarization?

In remote notarization, the signer appears before the Notary Public through an audio-visual internet connection rather than in person. This process is also commonly referred to as remote notarization, online notarization, or virtual notarization.

What is a Loan Signing Agent or Notary Signing Agent and what do they do?

A Loan Signing Agent or Notary Signing Agent is a specially trained, certified and, commissioned Notary Public focused on the presentation of loan documents. We introduce the documentation to the signer or signers without discussing the specifics—this includes identifying the title of each document, summarizing its contents, and guiding where to sign, date, and/or initial. Once all required actions are completed, the documents are sent back to their originator or as directed.
